This year I'm making martenitsi.
Red & white twisted strings and red & white pom-poms, possibly the little red & white yarn dolls if I start feeling slightly more patient.
Bulgarian custom for the beginning of March. They make Baba Marta happy, just feels like a good year for it.
A curious thing about the dolls, Tanya said that the girl one's always white and the boy one is always red, and in the text of websites it says that this is the traditional pair, but I'm noticing that in most of the photographs they show the opposite.
I'm not going to do the wear one until I see a stork thing, maybe till I see a blooming flower. I saw a bunch of storks in Bulgaria. They kept nesting on towers at churches, but I've never seen one around here.
