I finally looked at that friend's map thingy.

[livejournal.com profile] ravan and [livejournal.com profile] scarletserpent are apparently both ocean dwellers.

My current theory is that perhaps they are mermaids :)

At first I thought they must have very strong arms to stay afloat, or perhaps secret islands, but the mermaid theory is much more fun. Then they can have underwater palaces and everything.

I bet Ravan's is full of cool secret equipment like a super spy lair.

Scarletserpent's mermaid palace would have a really big cool jungle gym thingy for her merdaughter to swim around in with her fishy friends. Yes I can see both of these places in my mind.

Also [livejournal.com profile] enyo! It just goes to show that the abbreviation 'CA' can be ambiguous. Maybe I'll stop by next time I go to Oregon.

hmm, I got this belly dance picture ) in an email from a friend of my mother's. For you all, I'll skip her warnings about it being adult in nature, but it is perverse.

ugh, I'm too tired if I can't get an img tag right!

I get home today to a couple of kids and the guy in the next apartment, playing with balls between the apt and the carport. When they realized I was there they scurried inside pretty quick. I noticed that there is now a makeshift basketball hoop over my part of the carport. A 5 gallon plastic bucket with the bottom cut-out attached to a piece of plywood attached to the carport.

I admire the creativity. It definitely would make a decent idea for [livejournal.com profile] tiggrrl's [livejournal.com profile] tightwads community. I understand the appeal of having something like that to play with. When I went to talk to the guy - he knew I was coming and opened the door before I could knock - he insisted that his kid knew to only play with it when my car isn't there... I'm not quite happy with this.

As I told the guy, we've both been kids. We know that even if we usually try to be good, there are going to be times when the temptation to play with it will be too high. So his kid is the only one in this building... doesn't mean kids from next door won't ever come over. His pointing out that the Sikh boys in the neighborhood are frequently climbing all over the carport roofs doesn't really help.

He thinks maybe we can play musical spaces again and his old car he never uses can go under it, and I can move up to the far other end... well if the landlady will go for it, sure. I'm just really skeptical as she only just had us all move back into order out there a few months ago.

So I'll see if it comes down. If not, maybe I'll try asking about switching... but if the one at the far end is open, why not set the hoop up there to begin with?
