Ancient Ways
Jun. 12th, 2003 08:44 pmOverall the festival went very fast. At least partially that would be a side effect of working at it. Still I got to the pools most days, and got to hang out with people. Going to workshops and rituals there hasn't been a priority for me for years now. I went to one workshop. I thought maybe I'd try climbing up to the Fire Circle again finally, but when the time came for what I would have gone up there for, it just didn't feel worth it.
I did walk to the pools once, for the first time since I broke my leg. Leg is definitely much better than it was last year. Next year I'll probably walk over more than once and may finally go back to the fire circle for something.
Again I camped in my car. It's actually quite cozy and convenient for me to do for sleeping at night. No major setup or break down time, With the passenger seat fully reclined, I can stretch out pretty decently, though for long term I would need to put my feet up higher.
It's funny, I do miss the village feel of having a tent among friend's tents, but I was kind of annoyed to have a family camping in a Winnebago by me, like my privacy was threatened. Probably because the car has uncovered windows all around it, and the tent I can open and close the window flaps. Then on Sunday, they wanted to pull out at 7 am and couldn't get it out, so they woke me up. They wanted me to pull forward more, but I refused because I don't like to be real close to cliffs. I eventually cleared the stuff from the driver's seat and let the woman drive me over a few parking spaces. That was weird.
Overall I talked much less than usual. There were several people that I felt like I should talk to, and that seemed like they wanted to talk to me too, but then we just didn't mostly. I didn't say anything much because I just didn't know what to say and didn't want to just babble anyways in hopes of finding a point, like I might more normally attempt. I figure if it's important I'll probably get another chance. None of it felt urgent or I would have tried to talk.
These were mostly people I'd just met, not people I knew already, or at least I thought not.
Sun morning, one of them actually said something about feeling like we were supposed to talk, but she didn't know why either. Then as I was leaving and turning in my parking thing, she was at the gate with her boyfriend arranging to stay another night, and I heard his name ... He's the son of one of my mother's friends and just last week I was at his mother's house and she was telling stories about the haunted cabin and saying her son's psychic girlfriend was going to try fixing it. So I have probably met him before - about 23 years ago. That was interesting, but I think there's probably something else to talk to her about.

bridgeweaver, last time we'd done that there were only a few other people still up. It was weirder doing that with so many people around. "When I say we'll be cool I think that you know what I mean..." Why is being a Donovan fan so rare and embarrasing?
"I will bring you gold apples and grapes made of rubies..." I found a couple of lyrics sites http://www.lyricsfreak.com/d/donovan/lyrics.htm and http://www.hmg.hu/rock/folk/donovan_lyrics.htm there are some errors on these, but lots of songs between them. Weirdly the big one is missing "Sunshine Superman" and "Jennifer Juniper", but the other one has them.
