Not the country and western station that replaced it in 1981.
Pioneering radio station - demonstrating that you can play album tracks besides the hit singles, that you can step outside narrowly defined genres and play a wide mix of music. Wacky station IDs with Firesign Theater bits. Nutty News - the original home for Scoop Nisker's - "If you don't like the news go out and make some of your own." Weekly PharmChem lab reports on street drugs - what it looks like, where it's being sold, what it's being sold as, what price, and what it really is - KFOG is a weak straight-laced reflection.
Unfortunately the extended radio play about Cyborgs, cryogenics and Walt Disney that got me started listening to them as my main station is not in the online archives.

I came across this site looking for Swami from Miami bits - here is another Darryl Henriques character - Guru Refu-Gi recommending a series of relocations. The other Darryl links don't work :( - No Joe Carcinogeni the Purple Poisoner on line. From another site - Swami from Miami disciple of the Late Great Guru Lethar-ji and Scoop doing a news broadcast.
